Chinatown Rook Out

Word of the Day

accrue

Definition: (verb) Come into the possession of. Synonyms: fall. Usage: The house accrued to the oldest son.

I got the keys to my new apartment today.

I’m officially living downtown Toronto, right in the core. Can’t get much more central than this! The bootleg district is right at my door. Cheap DVD’s, clothes, food, and just about everything else is right f’n there!

Over the next couple of days a crew of dedicated friends and fam are helping me get set up, possibly a paint job, and generally MOVED.

I would like to take this opportunity to send a massive shout-out & thank you to my brother from another mother, @ChefCreezle . This guy has put up with my bullshit for the last 2 months, and has yet to punch my face in. He is a hero.

5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY + PLEDGE DRIVE

This post is syndicated from DCS905 Radio.

Saturday April 10 2010 will be our official 5 year anniversary broadcast.

Tune in live from 10pm-12am EST for the most energetic, cutting-edge, aggressive and bass-face-inducing music we can arrange from Canada and abroad. Our resident lineup of Dubcomm, Faktah, Scott Free & Illweather will all be in the booth for a 2 hour audio assault in commemoration of DCS905’s 5 years of broadcast with CIUT, and in celebration of many more!
CIUT.FMThis date (April 10th) is also the ‘Friends of CIUT‘ pledge drive. Twice a year we reach out to you the listener for support in keeping the station alive. CIUT is home to staff and volunteer broadcasters that work 24/7 to provide the best and most original content possible on the airwaves, and we’re incredibly proud to be a part of their family. By supporting the station, and the DCS905 Radio program, you’re actively participating in the survival of Drum & Bass on community radio in Toronto. Do not let this important part of our culture die. Pledgers become Friends of CIUT, nabbing them a quarterly newsletter, entry in a grand prize draw, a tax reciept, and the satisfaction of doing something good. Depending on the amount you can pledge, there are gifts like hats & shirts going out as well… You can pledge online anytime HERE, just make sure you note the show you’re supporting is DCS905 RADIO. You can also download and mail in a form, HERE. Contact us below, or on twitter, facebook, myspace, or in person if you’d like to pledge in advance. It takes a little pressure off and lets us focus on the beats rather than calling on listeners during broadcast, so lets get this done now!
We have a bunch of awesome giveaways lined up especially for our supporters as well. Our sponsor CIVILIAN has sorted us with a bunch of their 2010 apparel lineup, Young@Heart Jewelz has provided us with some custom bits for the ladies, and Adikshunz Tattoo linked us with some coupons for ink, piercing, & hairstyling… As per usual, we’ve got a quota to meet in pledgers, so your timely support is crucial to DCS905’s survival on the airwaves… We ask you only twice a year, and you know full well that nobody else provides the beats we do each and every week, so show a little love, do your part, and keep us working on Saturday nights! DCS905 RADIO 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY SHOW Also, Dubcomm will be doing a full 2 hour broadcast going back through some of the archives on Saturday March 27th, so tune in for some amazing set highlights from guests both international and local, spots from our residents, funny moments in the studio, and of course the hardest, darkest DnB found anywhere on the FM airwaves. No Excuses. looking back, 5 years with DCS905 Radio DCS905 RADIO 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

Rager Tonight…

It is with deep regret that I inform you  I will not be performing at tonight’s CHC & TDSK event due to physical injury. My back is more fucked up than you need to know about. Thats all.

I wish you all an excellent, booze fueled, hyperactive and excessively awesome sounding evening. I want to be there, but maturity coupled with physical limitations has proven a stronger force than the rave this weekend.

I will be playing on DCS905 Radio tomorrow night as scheduled, for the 5 Year Anniversary Warmup show. Bits from international & local guests, residents, fun times in the studio, and bits of the darkside beats we’ve had focus on for the last 5 years… I’ll be a little slow from the painkillers, but I promise a dope show.

Cheers fuckers. Much love. Keep it tekno.

over the next few days, I am dedicating my time to gaming. My spine is right fucked, so shooting people all over the world (digitally) helps keep my sanity in check. At least paintball season is nearly upon us…

deFusion 9.0 + DCS905 Media Mods

U-P-G-R-A-Y-E-D-D

Thanks to webdemar, my blog has gotten a bit of an overhaul. You might not notice it, but there are some subtle graphical changes, some new added features, and compatibility issues have been fixed.

I love my blog, and I love the deFusion theme. It’s clean, simple, effective, and everything I want for a personal blog site. I don’t expect I’ll be changing the look of this site for a long time to come, and its infact the very first wordpress site I built.

Review: Sinister Sound, Toronto

The promoters for this event were taking a bit of a risk with their plans for a 50/50 split of dubstep and drum & bass in a not-huge Toronto club space, but it worked out amazingly…

Don’t Start With Me!

f vinyl

Some douchelord was telling me how awesome their ears are, and that they could tell the difference between a vinyl VS a cd, regardless of the soundsystem, and that vinyl is generally a better format… Well, my friend, take a quick look at the DIRT you are hearing when your super pristine ears are being “accurate”…

EDIT* In all actual fact, a CLEANER, CLEARER SIGNAL is being reproduced from CD’s 99.9% of the time… I should have lifted the microscopic shot of the pits on a CDR to post, but i wrote the initial part of this post pretty hammered and don’t have the link anymore. Anyways, while there is definitely a difference in the colour of the reproduced sound in a vinyl VS cd comparison, I think its pretty closed-minded and some old-world thinking to say that “vinyl is better”.

We use lasers now…

Go sit in a subwoofer.
