Marijuana Strain Review: Chemdawg

Chemdawg

Medicinal Marijuana : Kemdawg

Medicinal Marijuana : Kemdawg

Physical Exam:

Visual Appeal: 9 (1-10 / unpleasant-superb)
Bud Density: 2 (1-5 / airy-dense)
Aroma Intensity: 7 (1-10 / subtle-intense)
Seed Content: 1 (1-10 / none-fully seeded)
Colours Present in Buds: 3 Green / 4 Gold / 2 White / 4 Orange / 1 Red / 2 Purple (1-10 / light-dark)
Present Aromas: 2 Skunk / 3 Hash / 7 Floral / 4 Musk / 6 Pine (freshly cracked bud | 1-10 / weak-potent)

Comments:

This is a gorgeous, nearly textbook, sativa strain. The sample I received is incredibly well cured, snappable and dry all the way through. The calyx’s stick out on angles in different, sporadic directions from the thin stems. Cracking open my test nugget reveals an intoxicating and original smell, one I can’t quite relate to other strains or plants, but its deep and inviting to the olfactory. Trichrome coverage is second to none, short white crystals coat every bit of the plant except for the clusters of fine orange hairs, and I can see a bunch of them now sitting in the flyer tray I use. Using a bud-buster opposed to scissors will keep resin loss to a minimum, so thats whatsup! *note: coming out of the bud-buster nearly quadrupled the aroma’s potency, and opened up a bit more “skunk”.

Efficacy Testing:

Utensils Used: The Oracle Infrared Vaporizer (Standard Bag)
Dosage: 0.4g
Sativa Effect: 9 (1-10 / none-heavy)
Indica Effect: 2 (1-10 / none-heavy)
Effect Onset: 2 (1-10 / immediate-creeper)
Potency: 8 (1-10 / none-heavy)
Taste: 8 (1-10 / unpleasant-superb)
Tolerance Build up: 3 (1-10 / none-rapid)
Effect Duration: ≈2 hours
Usability: 9 Morning / 8 Day & Work / 4 Evening / 2 Night (1-10 / worst-ideal time of day)

Comments:

Poured the .4g into the bowl, put the straight stack on, and turned the Oracle on for about 10 seconds before attaching the bag. Tuned to about 3/4′s around the dial I started seeing thicker milky vapor 1 minute in. The taste of the first bag was fresh, not too heavy, and didn’t really make me cough. Halfway through the bag and I can feel a light but familiar buzzing behind my eyes and in my temples. Only took a couple big hits from that point to finish the bag, and I’m smiling the whole time.. Very good vibes in this plant get me stoked for the second vape!

The second bag fills with a much thicker, whiter vapor. Retaining heat from the first run, the Oracle Infrared Vaporizer takes 0 time getting to temp, and I’m kind of annoyed with myself for not including the whip attachment. I cranked up the heat towards the end of the fill to cook out any oils missed during the first bag, closing out somewhere around 4ooF. This one hits a lot harder, my eyes are feeling a bit of weight and my foot is once again bouncing under the desk. A small cough makes its presence known about 3/4′s through, but I think the blame goes to my shitty cigarette habit… It is morning afterall…

Conclusion: 8.5/10

Wake & Vape! Kicking off a late morning session I figured Chemdawg would be a great way to start my day… I was not disappointed. This plant was awesome! It was obviously cared for by the grower and that diligence resulted in a happy session with a super-tasty, textbook sativa strain. Chemdawg started my day with incredible smells, tastes, and looks. To me, high-grade marijuana is like a beautiful woman…

The qualities that make up their beauty will always be understated. They have to be experienced yourself!

Marijuana Strain : Kemdawg

Note: The “effects onset” got an “immediate” score on the scale because this strain really does hit hard right away, however, more than 15 minutes after my session the effects continued to ramp up, elevating my mood, and pushing me out the door for some fresh squeezed O.J.!

The Beast.

So I spent a large portion of my weekend customizing my computer… And then got smacked with a huge case of the mondays…

The fun stuff:

Got a new windows desktop theme called NOOTO (link) which is slick as fuck.

Installed and started messing around with Rainmeter configs. Definitely worth checking out if you like to customize your ish.

Got my PS3 to stream DIVX .avi files through the network with TVersity Media Server. Haven’t tried 1080 files yet, but will soon.

The Mondays:

So after working the beast like a beast all weekend, I decided to give it a break. Pulled the power from the modem/router, and shut down the PC. When I got up this morning, I guess it decided not to come back from vacation. HDD lights didn’t fire up, the monitor wasn’t getting signal, and the mouse/keyboard acted as if they weren’t connected. Needless to say I was pissed… And a little heartbroken.

As I’m no slouch when it comes to computer nerding, I immediately pulled power again and removed the beast’s side panel to reveal a collection of my cat’s hairs coated thickly with nicotine and dead skin cells. My computer’s insides look like mine I think. All the fucking around in the world, including re-seating the video card and triple checking the cable connections did nothing. A different monitor, different outlet, whatever, I was stuck. And angry.

So I walked down the street to one of the nameless computer stores @ college & spadina and was greeted by a fairly inept salesman who tried his best to diagnose the issue without any reference. I told him my tale, and he replied with a “2 day wait” … Not gunna fly chief. Out the door I went. Off to TechDirect. The guys there have been extremely helpful on a few occasions, and are super friendly, so I like to bring them business where possible. Today was a prime example of why.

Salvation:

Immediately they had a meter tool out to actually check the output of the power supply, gave me a quote on the new parts & a cleanup, and said they’d call me in an hour. It took them less than that, and now I’m here writing this post, on the beast, which is running quiet and cool beside me.

Long story short, TechDirect saved my Monday. Cheers to those guys.

Marijuana Strain Review: XXX (Triple X)

XXX

Medical Marijuana - XXX

Medical Marijuana : Triple X (XXX)

Physical Exam:

Visual Appeal: 8 (1-10 / unpleasant-superb)
Bud Density: 8 (1-5 / airy-dense)
Aroma Intensity: 7 (1-10 / subtle-intense)
Seed Content: 1 (1-10 / none-fully seeded)
Colours Present in Buds: 5 Green / 2 Gold / 3 White / 7 Orange / 3 Red / 5 Purple (1-10 / light-dark)
Present Aromas: 7 Skunk / 3 Hash / 4 Floral / 8 Musk / 3 Diesel (freshly cracked bud | 1-10 / weak-potent)

Comments:

A hybrid with mainly dutch skunk bloodlines, this sample exhibits a lot of great traits from it’s indica and skunk parents. The larger colas are very dense while some of the smaller popcorn sized nuggets are a little less so. Cracking a bud to get the aroma portion of the review out of the way released a very musky scent, and I found myself smelling the sample a number of times just because it’s so pleasant on the nose. Short trichromes look almost like powdered sugar close up, but the deep orange and red hairs dominate the visual aspect of my judging (Do I ever need a USB microscope for this job!).

Efficacy Testing:

Utensils Used: The Oracle Infrared Vaporizer (3′ Oversize Bag)
Dosage: 0.6g (split between 2 bowls)
Sativa Effect: 9 (1-10 / none-heavy)
Indica Effect: 6 (1-10 / none-heavy)
Effect Onset: 1 (1-10 / immediate-creeper)
Potency: 8 (1-10 / none-heavy)
Taste: 9 (1-10 / unpleasant-superb)
Tolerance Build up: 2 (1-10 / none-rapid)
Effect Duration: ≈2 hours
Usability: 6 Morning / 8 Day & Work / 7 Evening / 4 Night (1-10 / worst-ideal time of day)

Comments:

Breaking up sample in grinder opens up to a very deep and potent musky smell, and it increased in volume quite a bit… Definitely a 2 bag testing session (could be 3, but I’m here to work!) First .3g into The Oracle Infrared Vaporizer around 380 degrees, thick vapor filling the bag after about 45 seconds, took just under 3 mins to completely fill… Here goes… First hit tastes super clean, gives me a little cough… 3 mins in I’ve dealt with about half the bag, and have had a bigger coughing fit… My forehead & arms are sweating a bit, and I feel a very bright buzzing behind my eyes… As I think of cool ways to word this and work towards the end of the bag both my feet are bouncing under the desk, so the sativa in this pheno is not getting overpowered at all. I could easily stop here, but this is science, so for you intrepid reader, I vape onwards…

Bag 2 is filling a bit faster, and a bit thicker, because the glass bowl holds a bit of heat and The Oracle jumps up to it’s unchanged temperature setting… Towards the end I turn it up to cook some other oils out, which thickens up the vapors significantly (I almost can’t see through the bag!). I’ve decided to play some Playstation3 after I’m done, and that this session would be a lot more fun with someone else helping out. 2 Bags of this stuff is kind of daunting, which from a medicinal standpoint is perfect because a single dose was certainly enough. I’m not coughing as much from this bag, but still have a little tickle in my throat… It tastes amazing, a bit deeper and warmer than the first bag… I’m almost finished it and the buzz behind my eyes is a steady companion to the refresh rate of my monitor, and has spread comfortably to my temples… My eyes match the lighter on my desk, bright red. As the bag ends I’m stoked to finish this up and get the PS3 running…

Conclusion: 8.5/10

This is a very powerful and potent strain. I love just about everything about this stuff. It’s effects being so sativa dominant means it isn’t the greatest for pain reduction, but is still strong enough to sufficiently distract me from muscle & joint stiffness, and it works wonders on headaches. I’ve been using XXX as a daytime medication for well over a year and its always a treat when the season comes around. Research reveals dutch genetics; mostly skunk phenotypes bred for taste and effects with afghani indicas that I’d wager give it that spicy smell and bigger buds. If you come across it give yourself a treat and try it.

Note: My sample was grown in British Columbia and shipped over, but I can’t share any more than that… You’ll have to do the dirty work until the Canadian government smartens up to fix the MMAR program and make medicine like this available to all of us. If you’d like some details, please check out http://whyprohibition.ca/marijuana and http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/dhp-mps/marihuana/index-eng.php for information about your own MMAR application.

Marijuana Strain Review: Hindu Kush

Hindu Kush

Medicinal Marijuana - Hindu Kush

Medicinal Marijuana - Hindu Kush

Physical Exam:

Visual Appeal: 8 (1-10 / unpleasant-superb)
Bud Density: 7 (1-5 / airy-dense)
Aroma Intensity: 8 (1-10 / subtle-intense)
Seed Content: 1 (1-10 / none-fully seeded)
Colours Present in Buds: 6 Green / 6 Gold / 3 White / 7 Orange / 2 Red / 8 Purple (1-10 / light-dark)
Present Aromas: 4 Skunk / 6 Hash / 2 Floral / 7 Musk / 8 Pine (freshly cracked bud | 1-10 / weak-potent)

Comments:

A beautiful batch of meds from friends in British Columbia, this Hindu Kush strain is a near textbook indica. Thick, shapely buds (all were above 1g, most above 3g, up to 8g) with strong pale green/silver stems and a little extra fan leaf made up the sample, and though it didn’t get a perfect trim there was nothing to complain about. Squeezing a nug reveals a sticky and kind of spongy feeling, but the very well cured buds bounce back to shape and left a little stinky, sticky residue on my fingers. Cracking open a bud gives off an immediate “kush kick” smell that gets my mouth watering, and breaking it up with a pair of scissors releases the clean and piney elements that Kush strains strive for. They seem ideal for aromatherapy uses I think, because I personally would wear this.

Efficacy Testing:

Utensils Used: Joint (Rizla Silver & DLX filter)
Dosage: 0.5g
Sativa Effect: 2 (1-10 / none-heavy)
Indica Effect: 9 (1-10 / none-heavy)
Effect Onset: 2 (1-10 / immediate-creeper)
Potency: 9 (1-10 / none-heavy)
Taste: 7 (1-10 / unpleasant-superb)
Tolerance Build up: 2 (1-10 / none-rapid)
Effect Duration: ≈3 hours
Usability: 3 Morning / 2 Day & Work / 8 Evening / 9 Night (1-10 / worst-ideal time of day)

Comments:

The following is what I wrote while medicating, its a bit rough, but outlines the experience pretty well.

3 mins in I’m feeling it behind my eyes while something begins pulling eyelids down… 5 mins in, already spacing out on the TV.. very smooth flavour (night and day vs vapor which was very dry and harsh at times)… no cough until a big haul about halfway down the joint, brings a rush of blood into my head and makes my eyes water… feeling a pressure in my sinus and behind my temples, almost like a massage… eyes keep getting heavier.. 1/3rd left another short coughing fit, stretching out my arms i can feel a massive release of tension through my shoulders, i’m very comfortable in my seated position. The joint is out, I’m a total space cadet… 25 mins after start I don’t want to be at the computer taking notes, I want to let the couch-lock do its thing, so playstation3 made up the remainder of this testing session. I really enjoyed it, felt no pain, and no need to roll another until much later in the evening.

@ this point I had a snack and had a very comfortable 1 hour nap. Indica win.

Conclusion: 8/10

I tried to review this bud last week, but it’s so powerful in it’s effects that only these pictures got done. Initially I was using my Oracle Infrared Vaporizer with about .3g/bowl, cooked hot into 1 large vapor bag, and thats all it took. My notes might as well be a slurred word with the pen running off the page. 90% of the time I medicated with this batch of Hindu I woke up on the couch ≈2 hours after starting the session. Concentrating as best as possible to get this review out there, I checked a fresh nug, rolled it, and sat down for an after dinner doobie & blog updating session.
