What a weekend…

Well, I’ve survived.

The TDSK 9 Year anniversary was awesome. Arrived early with a good crew of people to encounter the crisp loud bass of the main room, a ton of smiling faces all around me & lots of beer & jager. Bliz & the whole crew @ Throw Down Sound Krew have been awesome to me, and I was honored to close out the night with some 4/4 Techno… Thanks as always.
Rob from RPG photography was there to document the sets, big props to him for all the awesome pics over the night, here’s a couple, but click MORE @ the bottom of the entry for the rest of the pics, and be sure to check out his site!

Following an all-day-all-night afterparty in Hamilton, I made way back to Toronto for a super fast shower & change, met up with another friend and headed to Mississauga for an ROH wrestling show. I’ve never been to one of these things before, so not knowing what to expect, I cruised over to the bar, and then grabbed my seat. This introduction to semi-pro wrestling was awesome. Kudos to Kay-Lon for the awesome hospitality & experience! Kicks to the Face!

Intermission @ ROH

I got a few solid hours rest after the show, and finally got to sleep for a bit. Sunday was an excellent day of relaxing on the couch & trying to recover from the madness that went down in the past few days… Pain management & lots of work to do this week… Tunes are comin’ and Articles are goin up all over… So I’m going back into the studio, and we’ll chat in a bit.

Keep it Techno.

DCS905 Radio Update:

Last night’s “Friends of CIUT” pledge drive went really well. The roster of DJ’s was on point, our phone volunteers were lookin great, the studio sounded crisp, and the support from our listeners was great… We actually got a call from California! The pledge forms are still up @ CIUT.fm ,  so no worries if you missed the broadcast!

Big updates coming this week on the DCS905 Radio site… The archives will be exploding with new audio, a bunch of new press, completed bios, and a photo gallery! GO THERE!

Fall 2009 CIUT Pledge Drive

It is that time of year again. Twice a year we reach out for the ‘Friends of CIUT’ pledge drive, ensuring that the music be believe so strongly in will stay on the air for your listening pleasure. We don’t get paid a cent for the work that goes into DCS905 Radio, and CIUT itself is a charitable organization, a community radio station that truly plays music that isn’t available anywhere else on the dial.

This coming Saturday, November 7th will be the big broadcast where we need you to call in with your pledges during our regular showtime of 10pm-12 midnight EST (-5 GMT). The whole crew will be in the booth, Dubcomm, Faktah, Scott Free, Illweather, & Mensa… Its going to be a massive showcase of beats while we make the push to stay on air.

We love to hear from our listeners, but you don’t have to wait until showtime. Advanced and snail-mail pledge forms are currently available @ http://www.ciut.fm/pdfs/Pledgeform_proof.pdf .

Or you can pledge online right now @ http://www.ciut.fm/pledge.php/ .

It is crucial that we meet and destroy the quota of pledges, just like every other drive… We’re counting on you to step up and show support for the darker side of Drum’n'Bass in Toronto. DCS905 has always been at the very cutting edge of the music, and we’ll continue until we’re forced to stop… It won’t be easy.

Beige is Darkside?

So the universe has an average colour… and this is it. Honestly.

Crazy Times

Putting words to the last few months of my life, especially outside of the dnb world, has been pretty tough. I did put a review together for the Planet Of The Drums / Chris Liberator party in London ON, which is featured @ Kmag’s CanaDNBa blog, check it out!

http://www.kmag.co.uk/editorial/blogs/384

Another entry of note missing from the blog recently, is that of the ‘2nd Annual Toronto Drum & Bass Awards‘. I received 2 nominations on the night,  in the ‘Best Breakthrough DJ’ & for ‘Best Radio Program’ for DCS905 Radio. The Awards night took place this past Sunday with DJ Friction headlining, and a number of locals rounding out the bill. I wasn’t lucky enough to take home any accolades, but I had a good time for the most part. Next year we’ll be running a massive campaign for the radio show though… For the 5th year of broadcast, I think the ‘Award Winning’ title would be great promo.

I’m working on music like a fucking fiend. Fuck the world, I’m making beats. Projects with Catacomb, Grimm, Aconit, & Illweather are all underway for DnB, while tunes with Fuzzboy & DJ Opel are kicking off under my 4/4 alias ‘Hexagon’.

I’m meeting with the surgeon to deal with my back issues in early November. That shit freaks me out. In doing so, I’ll be taking a bunch of time off from bookings & DJ performances. Friday Nov.13th for the TDSK 9 Year Anniversary will be my last show until sometime in 2010. Don’t miss it.
