Insomnia + Reminiscing
Question me and I’ll laugh in your fuckin’ face. Question that and i’ll laugh even harder. I play music to keep myself out of a sanitarium. Its my release. You try to bring me some fuckin’ rules to it, and breakdown how the system works, when in fact you are calling out your own ignorance, because for the most part, DJ’ing is a solo venture… And if I’m told I can do this/I can’t do that/I’d look stupid doing this/don’t blah blah blah, I’m only going to revolt and laugh at you again.
i’m a fuckin dj.

While digging through some very old blog stuff, I came across this little gem of a quote. I’m not exactly sure what my headspace was when it came about, but I can feel the emotion while reading it back.
I have a lot of passion in my life. Maintaining the focus & drive that I once had can be a challenge, and looking back at the last few years of my life shows that in a very big way.
Less than a month until 2010. A bunch of monsterous ‘life’ stuff is happening right now… But my passion for music and technology remains strong. Standby for launch.
TDSK 9 YEAR : TONIGHT!!!
I’ll be playing as ‘Hexagon’ (my 4/4 techno alter-ego) on the main stage, 2am-close
wear black.
Promo Whoring

In the past week I’ve submitted the blog to a mass amount of directory & ratings sites… Hopefully boost a bit of traffic and spread the tekno that much further. Scope this madness out:

DCS905 Radio Update:
Last night’s “Friends of CIUT” pledge drive went really well. The roster of DJ’s was on point, our phone volunteers were lookin great, the studio sounded crisp, and the support from our listeners was great… We actually got a call from California! The pledge forms are still up @ CIUT.fm , so no worries if you missed the broadcast!
Big updates coming this week on the DCS905 Radio site… The archives will be exploding with new audio, a bunch of new press, completed bios, and a photo gallery! GO THERE!
Crazy Times
Putting words to the last few months of my life, especially outside of the dnb world, has been pretty tough. I did put a review together for the Planet Of The Drums / Chris Liberator party in London ON, which is featured @ Kmag’s CanaDNBa blog, check it out!
http://www.kmag.co.uk/editorial/blogs/384
Another entry of note missing from the blog recently, is that of the ‘2nd Annual Toronto Drum & Bass Awards‘. I received 2 nominations on the night, in the ‘Best Breakthrough DJ’ & for ‘Best Radio Program’ for DCS905 Radio. The Awards night took place this past Sunday with DJ Friction headlining, and a number of locals rounding out the bill. I wasn’t lucky enough to take home any accolades, but I had a good time for the most part. Next year we’ll be running a massive campaign for the radio show though… For the 5th year of broadcast, I think the ‘Award Winning’ title would be great promo.
I’m working on music like a fucking fiend. Fuck the world, I’m making beats. Projects with Catacomb, Grimm, Aconit, & Illweather are all underway for DnB, while tunes with Fuzzboy & DJ Opel are kicking off under my 4/4 alias ‘Hexagon’.
I’m meeting with the surgeon to deal with my back issues in early November. That shit freaks me out. In doing so, I’ll be taking a bunch of time off from bookings & DJ performances. Friday Nov.13th for the TDSK 9 Year Anniversary will be my last show until sometime in 2010. Don’t miss it.
Old School Promo Video!
Found this one buried in archive CD’s. Brings back awesome memories of the events that helped DCS905 get some recognition in the drum’n'bass community. We did a series of parties in a small bar outside of Toronto during the summer of 2005, the highlight of which is featured in this video. Demolition Man (UK) had just moved to the city and agreed to do a performance for us… Just so happened to be the first since he landed. With a bit of extra hustle behind the promotion we ended up packing the tiny bar way past capacity. Having Demo sing “Fire” no more than 2′ from my face is something that will surely stay with me for the rest of my days.
Cheers to all the crew that was involved in those times… It’s been awhile!
GUNRFEP001 +++
Working with the US based ‘Gun Recordings‘ late in 2007, I was given the opportunity to release a 4 track EP entitled ‘Grenade Launcher’. At the same time I contributed a tune to the international EP project ‘Hostage Situation’ with Hydrophobics (Italy), Redco (Ukraine), & Bowser (UK), available only @ Beatport.com

CanaDNBa : Knowledge Magazine
Following a recent conversion from print to online-only distribution, Knowledge Magazine has created a massive new portal for information on the global drum’n'bass community with a strong focus on up-to-date news, international features, new music, and the people that make up our scene.
I’ve been given the honor of representing Canada on the new Knowledge site via the ‘CanaDNBa’ blog, and it’s a project I’m really excited to be working on. Articles will be going up every week with my own personal take on things as they happen, interviews with the people who are pushing Canada’s DnB movement forward, event reviews from major Canadian cities coast to coast, and whatever else they’ll let me get away with.
CANADNBA MISSION STATEMENT:
Provide in- depth, involved, and well defined coverage of the ever-expanding Drum’n’Bass community in Canada. With a population just over 30million, Canada, the second largest country in the world, has a lot to offer the global Drum’n’Bass movement as it evolves and changes. With an insider’s view, we give our reader access to the producers, DJ’s, MC’s, and promoters that make up country’s scene. Coverage offering perspectives on and off the dance floor will shed light on Canada’s steadily growing D&B confederacy.
Check the site out HERE. And specifically my ‘CanaDNBa’ blog HERE. Leave comments! Start a discussion, do something! If YOU don’t get involved, who will?

I put this one together to showcase some of the newly released & forthcoming tech dnb, and selfishly promote my blog! Aside from a link to this post, the only place to download this 30 minute ride through subwoofer crunching audio is right here. There is a ton more music for you to check out, upcoming show listings, promo releases, etc etc, so browse around, leave some comments, and enjoy the beats.
