Kmag : T3K Interview
Sometimes when I hear a track drop, I think about how people with no frame of reference would perceive sensations of 55Hz pushing on their chests and overdriven snares cracking at 170bpm… What would a caveman think? A yet-to-be-discovered tribe in Borneo? A group of ancient samurai? If I was given a chance to show off the beats of our modern age to Bill & Ted’s history report, T3K is where I would probably begin…

Kmag | Guest Mix & Interview : GEIN

Recently I got the opportunity to have a brief chat with American drum & bass duo Gein (aka Adam Darby and Ronny Eremija) leads us through their new release with Dieselboy‘s Human Imprint, touches on hometown scene politics, introduces their label Bad Chemistry and the whole thing comes together with an exclusive mix packed with new music.
Knowledge Mag Interview

Our friends at Knowledge Magazine have posted an interview of myself (dubcomm) in preparation for the 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY SHOW this weekend!
Tell us about your first broadcast on CIUT. Did it go off without a hitch? HAHAHA. My first show was a nightmare. I had practiced every mix and every voiceover and every drop a million times, but when I showed up, everything hit the fan. [...]
Why is it that you prefer to mix live on the radio as opposed to pre-recorded mixes? IT’S SATURDAY NIGHT IN TORONTO!! We start the party every Saturday night, so given the opportunity to really ‘play’ on the airwaves creates a really cool connection to our listeners. If they want a reload, they call it. [...]
What is your shoe size (for the ladies) My latest pair of ultra-sexy all-black Nike Shox MR2’s are a[...]Check the CanaDNBa blog @ Kmag for the full interview HERE.

Crazy Times
Putting words to the last few months of my life, especially outside of the dnb world, has been pretty tough. I did put a review together for the Planet Of The Drums / Chris Liberator party in London ON, which is featured @ Kmag’s CanaDNBa blog, check it out!

Another entry of note missing from the blog recently, is that of the ‘2nd Annual Toronto Drum & Bass Awards‘. I received 2 nominations on the night, in the ‘Best Breakthrough DJ’ & for ‘Best Radio Program’ for DCS905 Radio. The Awards night took place this past Sunday with DJ Friction headlining, and a number of locals rounding out the bill. I wasn’t lucky enough to take home any accolades, but I had a good time for the most part. Next year we’ll be running a massive campaign for the radio show though… For the 5th year of broadcast, I think the ‘Award Winning’ title would be great promo.
I’m working on music like a fucking fiend. Fuck the world, I’m making beats. Projects with Catacomb, Grimm, Aconit, & Illweather are all underway for DnB, while tunes with Fuzzboy & DJ Opel are kicking off under my 4/4 alias ‘Hexagon’.
I’m meeting with the surgeon to deal with my back issues in early November. That shit freaks me out. In doing so, I’ll be taking a bunch of time off from bookings & DJ performances. Friday Nov.13th for the TDSK 9 Year Anniversary will be my last show until sometime in 2010. Don’t miss it.
CanaDNBa : Knowledge Magazine
Following a recent conversion from print to online-only distribution, Knowledge Magazine has created a massive new portal for information on the global drum’n'bass community with a strong focus on up-to-date news, international features, new music, and the people that make up our scene.
I’ve been given the honor of representing Canada on the new Knowledge site via the ‘CanaDNBa’ blog, and it’s a project I’m really excited to be working on. Articles will be going up every week with my own personal take on things as they happen, interviews with the people who are pushing Canada’s DnB movement forward, event reviews from major Canadian cities coast to coast, and whatever else they’ll let me get away with.
CANADNBA MISSION STATEMENT:
Provide in- depth, involved, and well defined coverage of the ever-expanding Drum’n’Bass community in Canada. With a population just over 30million, Canada, the second largest country in the world, has a lot to offer the global Drum’n’Bass movement as it evolves and changes. With an insider’s view, we give our reader access to the producers, DJ’s, MC’s, and promoters that make up country’s scene. Coverage offering perspectives on and off the dance floor will shed light on Canada’s steadily growing D&B confederacy.
Check the site out HERE. And specifically my ‘CanaDNBa’ blog HERE. Leave comments! Start a discussion, do something! If YOU don’t get involved, who will?
