Comments:

Late summer and then again during the holidays, I’ve been getting batches of Purple Chemo for about 3 years regularly now… This batch has slight but noticeable differences from previous incarnations, mainly in the looks department. I’m used to a phenotype that goes all out on the purple colouring, resulting in very dark nugs with white/silver trichrome dusting, while the colour in this season’s harvest isn’t quite as extreme. Chemo has a very distinct smell, lots of ‘hash’ with a very crisp, fresh finish… Kind of reminds me of laundry hanging next to a field of lush green plants…

Comments:

Sat down towards the end of the evening to write this one… I’ve noticed how much my mood affects the outcome of my reviews, so I made sure to prepare. Dinner first. Cold glass of OJ beside the vape. Blog open & ready to type… Can’t take any chances with strains this powerful!

I used my Oracle Infrared Vaporizer with the whip attachment in the stack so I could take sips of vapor while the bag filled, also ensuring I get the best possible temperature for extraction because I’m tasting & seeing the results as it cooks. The .4g broke up fairly large, I used scissors, and the aroma made my mouth water. Placed the nearly full bowl into the chamber, hit the button, and tuned my temp to around 385F…

It took about 45 seconds until I could see the vapor as I exhaled, and continued to get thicker after each pull from the whip. I got a bit of a cough and took a break to let the bag fill the rest of the way. While hitting straight from the bag I noticed how comfortable I’d become on my chair, while a bead of sweat rolled off my forehead and my eyes began to close… Taking notes quickly became a chore, and that’s pretty much where this review ends. Raiders of the Lost Ark was on, so I dug in like Indy himself.

PS. All my sessions with this batch of Purple Chemo basically ended the same way… Hungry.

Conclusion: 8.5/10

Wow. I wish this jar would last forever. This long-time personal favourite never disappoints. Purple Chemo is ideally suited for pain relief and certainly for appetite stimulus… There is said to be a chemo strain from British Columbia developed by David Suzuki in the 70′s (@ UBC, and is nearly impossible to fact check), and I wouldn’t be surprised if this is it (or closely related). The munchies brought on from just a small session are pretty incredible, and should really be looked into for helping with gastro issues. Bottom line, if you’re skeptical of marijuana’s effects in a medicinal capacity, this powerhouse strain will straighten you out. Textbook.

Note: I waited until the very last nug of my sample batch to write this review, partly because the first time I tried the effects totally couch-locked me, destroying any chance of writing coherently, and also because I had a number of strains on rotation the last week or so… Check out the Headband Kush review for some more indica dominant greatness!

Marijuana Strain Review : K-Town

K-Town

K-Town

K-Town Medicinal Marijuana

Physical Exam:

Visual Appeal: 8 (1-10 / unpleasant-superb)
Bud Density: 4 (1-5 / airy-dense)
Aroma Intensity: 8 (1-10 / subtle-intense)
Seed Content: 1 (1-10 / none-fully seeded)
Colours Present in Buds: 4 Green / 2 Gold / 3 White / 6 Orange / 1 Red / 6 Purple (1-10 / light-dark)
Present Aromas: 4 Skunk / 2 Hash / 6 Floral / 3 Musk / 3 Diesel (freshly cracked bud | 1-10 / weak-potent)

Comments:

This batch of K-Town isn’t the prettiest, but it still has some amazing physical properties… I would love to see these plants in bloom! The buds are tightly formed and trichromes coat the flowers and fan-leaves heavily all the way to the thin stems. It didn’t receive a perfect trim, but there was enough care put in to keep me from complaining. Not as much purple as the sister strain “K-Train” that I tried last month, but from the right angles it darkens the look of the sample and gives it a bit of “wow”.

Efficacy Testing:

Utensils Used: The Oracle Infrared Vaporizer (Standard Bag)
Dosage: 0.3g
Sativa Effect: 3 (1-10 / none-heavy)
Indica Effect: 8 (1-10 / none-heavy)
Effect Onset: 4 (1-10 / immediate-creeper)
Potency: 8 (1-10 / none-heavy)
Taste: 7 (1-10 / unpleasant-superb)
Tolerance Build up: 1 (1-10 / none-rapid)
Effect Duration: ≈2 hours
Usability: 3 Morning / 3 Day & Work / 9 Evening / 7 Night (1-10 / worst-ideal time of day)

Comments:

I used scissors to chop up a sample nugget, weighed out .3 and loaded it into the vape. The bowl cooked thoroughly in about 3 minutes, providing 1 ultra-thick bag @ ≈385°F (+ a few degrees towards the end of the cook). I noticed a very distinct “weight behind my eyes” and a bit of that wonderful “couch locking” indica feeling after just 3 hits from the bag, each pull was followed by a nice clean aftertaste that left a weird little tingle in my sinus. 10 mins after the bag I was feeling enjoyably spaced out but not dumbed down too much, and definitely physically relaxed. I found the effects distracting enough to act as a mild painkiller, but with enough sativa influence that my foot was still bouncing rapidly under the desk. Give or take 30 mins after medicating and I noticed how fucking hungry I was! My mouth started watering, so cottonmouth was clearly no issue… The thought of chocolate ice cream after a pulled pork sandwich lifted me from the couch with a smile.

Conclusion: 8.5/10

Hugely enjoyed this strain, will definitely medicate with it again. While it may not be the strongest or best looking batch of meds I’ve ever seen, there was definitely some care given to the plants, and the positive vibes come out with its use. Taking my mind off of pain and stimulating my appetite are among the most important effects this plant has for me, and in that regard K-Town was a smashing success. This sample came from friends in British Columbia, Canada. I wish I could offer up more details on its genetics & origins, but such is the game. If you see it, try it!

K-Train

Note: I know that a lot of bud floating around the southern US is referred to as “K Town”, often linked to specific locales, mid-grade marijuana, and sometimes even imported mexican brick weed. This is not that shit. I hope to get another batch of the sister strain K-Train again, I’ll post a full review if so, and you’ll see for yourself! Cheers!
