Comments:
Alien Dawg is a very interesting sativa dominant hybrid. This batch stirred up a little controversy as I saw a strain by the same name @ a dispensary in Toronto, marked as their strongest indica. Through my own testing, a few research sessions, and discussion with my sources it’s pretty clear these aren’t the same batches. From it’s appearance there are some definite indica traits, mainly the density of bud formations and a hint of musk on the nose, but that’s pretty much where the Chemdawg genes kick back in. A strong skunk & floral scent emanates from the grinder while breaking up, and it’s very easy on the eyes… Well trimmed pale green and deep gold buds with dense white trichome coverage… It’s really kind of seductive…

Comments:
This strain goes beyond refined looks and really makes her effects known. I had a few sessions ‘probing’ the Alien Dawg via joint and/or vaporizer, as well a couple of close (and also federally exempt medicinal marijuana patient) friends helping out with their thoughts.
SESSION REPORT 1:
Smoking a fairly large joint with friends “CB” & “PK” I got the pen & paper out to take some very scribbly notes.CB – Fruity almost menthol taste, nice tar ring on paper, even burn, overpowered start. Still trying to figure out dominant traits – halfway through the effects have killed “couch-lock” feeling from previous indica session (only 10 mins ago) – harsh throat 2/3rds through – conclusion: sativa dominant.
PK – Didn’t say much, probably because of our previous session. He appeared frozen in time. When we said so and got a laugh he chimed in with “my tongue is tingling, I’m heavily medicated.”
ME – I was taking notes re: CB’s thoughts, so mine had to wait… I did manage to write “good for conversation & definitely woke me up a bit” however.
SESSION REPORT 2:
Time to break out the Oracle Infrared Vaporizer! During my Chemdawg review I felt I should have the whip attachment going, so this time around I was 100% prepared. Broke up the cone shaped tip of a bud (about 0.6g), poured half into the bowl, set the temp to 3′o’clock (380F) and pushed the button. The bag was full in just over 2 minutes, and I decided against the whip for my first taste. Beautiful. Very fresh and fruity tasting, I felt the effects after just a few hauls. Finishing the light vapor quickly without any strain on my throat or lungs, I fired it up for a second go! Bag 2 filled with much thicker vapor, but had a slight hint of popcorn taste (which happens when the vaporized marijuana has been thoroughly cooked). Again it wasn’t too harsh and I only coughed a little from the last hit.
Because this is science and I enjoy the process, I poured the remaining sample into the bowl, added the hookah stack adapter to the vape, and started up once more. Turning the heat down a notch, the vaporizer ran for about a minute before I started toking from the whip… Still feeling effects from the first bag ramping up, this was clearly overkill. I enjoyed sipping the smooth flavours for a few minutes while the bag also filled with vapors, then retired the whip and went right back in for the bag adapter. There was no cough at all, even with the larger hits offered. Finishing up I was really stoked to come write up this review with a great buzz in my head and just enough indica influence to keep me comfortable.
Conclusion: 8.5/10
Yes please. This is a great example of sativa dominant crosses. It’s effects ramped up over 20-30 minutes and leveled off into a very energetic but relaxed state. It’s a great strain for wake-n-bakes because it’s strong enough to defeat the “couch lock” that can cripple even the nicest of days. I really enjoyed the session with friends who helped relate their feelings, and found it sparks creativity allowing work to be done and conversation to stay lively (until you decide to eat an extra large pizza, then things get eerily quiet for some reason)… Try it if you see it, but be wary of labels… A bit of research and experimentation goes a long way… Either way, trusting yourself and your own reactions will undoubtedly lead you to a strain of Marijuana that helps you enjoy life more.
