New Look, Same Vibe

Yes we’ve done it again. A new site layout for DCS905 Radio.

As Dubcomm’s pet project, DCS905 has evolved through a number of brand identities while the goal at heart remains the same. Progress the darkside of Toronto’s Drum’n'Bass sound. Graphics & Promotion have always been a big part of our work @ DCS905, and as such a number of logo treatments have graced flyers & T-Shirts over the years…

This incarnation brings together all the years of branding we’ve accomplished, and will surely take us through 2010… Our 5 year anniversary will mark the return of DCS905 apparel, with a few limited runs of T-Shirts.

Keep it Techno.

Progression

ON AIR @ CIUT CIUT’s Fall 2009 Pledge Drive went over really well. We got the support we needed from our listeners & crew to keep the darkside dnb on Toronto’s FM waves for at least 6 more months. Thank you!

If you pledged, please make sure you get paid up with the station before December 21st to secure entry in the grand prize draw. They’ve got a bunch of amazing prizes sorted, so don’t hesitate!

We’ll be back in the springtime for another ‘Friends of CIUT’ drive, right around the same time as the DCS905 5 Year anniversary broadcast celebration.

Event planning for April 2010 is underway.

CIUT is moving!

ciutbb Yep. The famous building at 91 St. George is coming down.

I’ve spent nearly every saturday night there for over 6 years now, and to be totally honest, it’s sad to see the building go.

CIUT’s broadcasting studios have been located here for 21+ years. Following next week’s broadcast, we’re moving to another U of T campus building, the student center ‘Hart House’. Myself & crew will be checking out the new space this week, rumor has it they’ve set up a proper DJ booth for us! Stay tuned!

* note – There is no DCS905 Radio show this Saturday, CIUT will be doing a live broadcast from the CN Tower during Nuit Blanche.

Dubcomm @ Knowledge Magazine!

Following a recent conversion from print to online-only distribution, Knowledge Magazine has created a massive new portal for information on the global drum’n’bass community with a strong focus on up-to-date news, international features, new music, and the people that make up our scene.

I’ve been given the honor of representing Canada on the new Knowledge site via the ‘CanaDNBa’ blog, and it’s a project I’m really excited to be working on. Articles will be going up every week with my own personal take on things as they happen, interviews with the people who are pushing Canada’s DnB movement forward, event reviews from major Canadian cities coast to coast, and whatever else they’ll let me get away with.

CANADNBA MISSION STATEMENT:

Provide in- depth, involved, and well defined coverage of the ever-expanding Drum’n’Bass community in Canada.   With a population just over 30million, Canada, the second largest country in the world, has a lot to offer the global Drum’n’Bass movement as it evolves and changes. With an insider’s view, we give our reader access to the producers, DJ’s, MC’s, and promoters that make up country’s scene. Coverage offering perspectives on and off the dance floor will shed light on Canada’s steadily growing D&B confederacy.

Check the site out HERE. And specifically my ‘CanaDNBa’ blog HERE. Leave comments! Start a discussion, do something! If YOU don’t get involved, who will?

News & Updates for your FACE

Ez crew,

Check out the music page for a couple new archived shows! Our man Scott Free is off in South America, but when he returns we’ll have an extra special archive to post, from the 2 hour FORTRESS live show, recorded Aug.15th, after the Ritual 0.3 show.

CIUT is moving. Soon the famous 89.5 studios will be torn down, and we’ll be moving operations to a brand new facility in Hart House, UofT’s student center. The shows have been a little hectic lately, what with most of the broadcast booth packed with boxes. Once the move has been completed, we’ll be getting a few shows in with the whole crew touching down on each broadcast. Rave on the Radio vibes, to kick things off.

Chris Su is coming to Toronto. Soul In Motion has done it again. Watch for details.

And finally, the DCS905 summer stickers have been making rounds, look out for them at events all over the city, or just ask one of the crew, we’ve all got a bunch for ya!
